Christmas in New York photos to put anyone in the holiday spirit

 

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year in New York––seriously.  The Big Apple transforms into a magical wonderland brimming with white lights, baubled buildings, and towering Christmas trees.  Even a giant snowflake dangles over Fifth Avenue! The festive transformation begins before Thanksgiving, and the holiday decorations remain until after we ring in the new year. I cross my fingers hoping to see at least a dusting of snow during that time, which feels like a grand finale before the fanfare ends.

If you have yet to experience Christmas in New York, what are you waiting for? I encourage you to get to New York City during the season. If this year is out of the question, plan to visit next year. Or the year after that. Even the scroogiest folks can’t help but get in the spirit when they set their sights on the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and all the grandeur that surrounds it.

I shot these scenes in Midtown Manhattan, specifically, Central Park, Fifth Avenue at the Plaza Hotel, West 58th Street, Rockefeller Center, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, and Bryant Park. And although the concentration of decor is great in this area, this is only a small section of the city. All over town you’ll find hotels, restaurants, shop windows, and streets decked out from top to bottom. And Brooklyn has its share of holiday decorations too, including a giant menorah, so take a trip over the bridge.

Since the big day is around the corner, I hope these Christmas in New York photos put you in the spirit, and tempt you to book a trip if you’re not lucky enough to live here in the midst of the merriment.
