What I Did in Four Days in Costa Rica

Spend Four Days in Costa Rica This article was updated on January 7, 2026. Every winter it does the soul good to escape the cold and get a dose of Vitamin D, even if for only a few days. One country I recommend for a winter vacation is Costa Rica. You can spend just fourRead More

19 Photos That Will Inspire You to Visit Granada, Nicaragua

After my trip to Costa Rica last year, I knew I’d soon visit its northern neighbor. I had heard great things about Nicaragua from one of my guides in Tamarindo and started thinking about a visit months before I planned it. One thing that attracted me to Granada, Nicaragua, in particular, was the notion ofRead More

Tren Ecuador: Journey from Quito Through the Andean Foothills

This article was updated on September 20, 2026. Tren Ecuador Offers a Photo-Worthy Journey from Quito Through the Andean Foothills There’s often a fine line between the urban and rural in most any major metropolitan area. And in Quito, Ecuador, that blurriness is evident. The subtle separation between city and country becomes obvious when ridingRead More

Puerto Vallarta Is for Foodies

A few weeks back, I went to a Puerto Vallarta tourism event right here in New York, and soon realized that this Mexican resort town is becoming more of a foodie destination.  I had a taste of the region’s cuisine from Chef Mario Portillo from the newly-opened Tintoque in Vallarta. Wow….was his food delicious! HeRead More

Things to Do in Quito, Ecuador’s Alluring Capital City

Things to Do in Quito, Ecuador’s Alluring Capital City This article was updated on September 24, 2026. I knew nothing of Quito before my visit. A BLOG DEDICATED TO NEW YORK CITY

About Me

Hello!

Welcome to my corner of the world where you’ll find guides to places I’ve visited and loved, travel inspiration and photography, stories about food and wine, and an archive of New York articles from my past blog, “Tracy’s New York Life.”

I’ve lived in New York City since 2007, and I’ve been traveling the globe since 2015. My most exciting travel experiences include dune bashing in Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter, mountain biking in Cuenca, Ecuador, and hiking the Swiss Alps in a blizzard (without winter clothing!). On an oenophilic note, I’ve tasted wine in La Rioja, Bordeaux, and Piemonte (twice), as well as other wine regions in the US and abroad.

Have a look around and reach out through my contact page if you have questions or would like to connect. Thanks for being here!
